The International Guitar Festival in Mikulov, held by the civic association Guitar Festival in Mikulov in cooperation with the Regional Museum of Mikulov, today belongs to the major European festival for concert guitar.
Sample imageIn the past twenty years of its existence the festival has introduced guitar not only as a solo instrument but also in combination with other instruments or orchestras. In addition to classical guitar the festival also features jazz, flamenco and other genres.
The festival is held in early July every year in the form of seminars, master classes, workshops, and exhibitions and sales of instruments and scores. The most visible part of the festival is certainly represented by the afternoon and evening concerts in the Mikulov chateau featuring leading world guitarists.
The festival is attended by around 150 active participants from all over the world and the numbers of audience amount to around 300 spectators a day. The festival is monitored by national media and international professional press. A documentary CD of every festival year is published.
The festival has been sponsored by governmental institutions (the town of Mikulov, South Moravia Region, Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic) as well as by private companies. The general sponsor is BOSCH.
